Transferring Your Property Tax Base
(Prop 60)
Scroll Down
Over the age of 55 and want to save thousands every year on your
property taxes?
Proposition 60 allows homeowners in numerous California counties move homes and
maintain the lower tax base of their current home.
For example, if you're moving from Los Angeles to Orange County. Your LA home sells for $1.5M and their yearly property taxes on that home were about $10k. Then, you purchase a new home here in Orange County for $1.5M and the property taxes on that home would have been approximate $16k/year. You can maintain that $10,000 tax base and SAVE $6,000 a year on property taxes.

Proposition 90 is an inter-county amendment that allows you to move from and to the following "reciprocating" counties:
-
Alameda
-
El Dorado
-
Los Angeles
-
Orange
-
Riverside
-
San Bernardino
-
San Diego
-
San Mateo
-
Santa Clara
-
Ventura
